Boat
Trips: Once a week we are organising a
boat trip for the windsurfers and non windsurfers who
are travelling with them. We get everybody
together on one of these typical Turkish gulets (wooden
boats made in Bodrum) to go to the little islands across
from Turgutreis where you can go swimming and
snorkelling in these beautiful waters, to discover the
region from the sea and hover over a sunken cargo boat
in 15m of clear water.
This is a half day tour,
we will come back to the centre in the afternoon for
windsurfing for those who can not wait for
it. We try to organise these trips on light
wind days, if possible, for the comfort of those on
board.
Evenings We organise
dinner outings with our guests. A little
list of restaurants we would recommend include:
- Mehtap restaurant in Akyarlar: Fish and
sea food.
- Anatolian restaurant in
Turgutreis: Anatolian lamb specialities.
- Fener restaurant on Fener Beach: Fish
and sea food.
- Kaptan Yeri in Akyarlar: Special
Turkish meat balls.
- Ozbalci in Akyarlar: Pide's (Turkish
Pizzas).
We also propose; after dinner,
moon-light parties on a boat going out for a few hours
from Akyarlar bay. Try swimming in the dark,
having a few drinks and then a sail back to your hotel.
Excursions: Even if you come
to Turkey mainly for windsurfing there are some places
that are well worth visiting to appreciate the
historical and cultural treasures of the Aegean.
Some of the most interesting excursions are
Ephesus, Pamukkale, Dalyan and Milas.
- Ephesus: About
190km from here. One of the most beautiful
antique cities around the world and probably the best
preserved one. You will be visiting a real
Greco-Roman city thousands of years old.
Virgin Mary's last home, Selcuk city and it's museum
are places to visit very close to Ephesus.
- Pamukkale: Cotton
Castle in Turkish. Unbelievable scenery of
thermal springs and natural pools of warm water
surrounded by limestone walls made by
nature. Nearby the antique city of
Hierapolis, a very important cultural centre of it's
times.
- Dalyan: About
220km from here one is of the most beautiful turtle
beaches of Turkey. Originally known as
antique Kaunos with it's famous tombs hewed on the
hills. Wonderful views of the Dalyan river
running through amazing vegetation to the beach.
- Milas: Only 50km
from Bodrum, Milas is a small rural Turkish
city with a nice market place, carpet makers
villages and a few antique city ruins nearby.
This place will make you discover typical Turkish
life and cities and you will enjoy shopping
there very much.
- Bodrum
Town: For the ones who don't like daily
excursions Bodrum has it's charms not very far
away. We are here 20 km from the city
centre it's very easy to get by coach
(dolmus). The Castle of St Peter is the
focal point of Bodrum. It was built by the Crusader
Knights of St John. This is a 500 years old
fortress, a very handsome edifice. You
would find one of the most interesting underwater
archaeology museum within the castle.
Antique Bodrum was called Halicarnasus and it
preserves the ruins of the Mausoleum that was one of
the Seven Wonders of the World. On the
main road you will see the antique amphitheatre and
the ancient city walls. In Bodrum marina
you will admire the Gulets, wooden sailing boats made
only in Bodrum.
You can get to these places
by the national coach service but if you would
like an organised tour we do have contacts with
travel agencies and also we organise self made
tours when we have enough participants among our
guests. It's also possible to rent
a car; we can have it delivered to your hotel.
